I purchased a copy of System Mechanic 7 on 1-3-07. It worked fine on my wife's Dell laptop, my HP desktop, but after installing on my HP laptop the software kept requesting license info. Needless to say my license was disabled although I was within the 3 installation limit. I have spent over 7 hours in queues and have yet to have anyone help me or fix the problem. This is the WORST support I have ever seen. I have purchased SM 3 & 5 but I will never buy from them again!!! Buyer BEWARE in dealing with IOLO!!
I "upgraded" - the installation did not uninstall the old Kaspersky bits from v6 nor warn that this needed to be done. No settings were carried across. The software made my system crash several times per day. Network printing became impossible. Support has been non-existent, and even though I have requested that my subscription be stopped, there has been no communication to say that this has been done. I am trying to find details of their senior management to try and sort this out. My advice - don't touch this company, at all costs...
I previously downloaded the trial version before purchasing the complete product to see how well it worked. The trial version was fine. I didn't mind that System Mechanic Pro 7 over takes all other anti-viruses on my computer, but what disappointed me the most was when I realized that ever since I installed SMP 7, I was unable to use my webcam on MSN messenger. I realize it was the problem when a friend reminded me that my webcam stopped working ever since I installed SM; and just to test it out, I uninstalled SM and my webcam was working better as ever! I reinstalled the software again, hoping that it won't disrupt MSN messenger like before, but apparently, SM WAS the cause of my webcam's functionality on MSN messenger. I tried fixing the firewall settings in any case it was blocked, but it still didn't help. I looked up for solutions on iolo.com and didn't find one relating to MSN messenger, but one relating to Yahoo. I e-mailed the technical support group and still haven't recieved a respond yet. I'm quite disappointed and wish I could get some kind of refund because majority of those I keep contact with are on my MSN. SM overriding other anti-viruses just wasn't enough huh? I'm guessing from one of the previous reviews that I probably won't recieve a reply from the technical support group any time soon.
SMP7 has hung during an internet debris clean & deleted all the files from the PC. This has now happened twice. Both PCs are currently cpmpletely useless no help from iolo tecnical support. I have used these products for a number of years but cannot endorse now. Beware do not use this software the costs can be very high. In comparision viruses are childs play
I bought iolo sys mech and antivirus about four and a half months ago, and wish I never had... Not only is my computer doing worse, but iolo seems to INVITE viruses and malware onto my computer! I recently downloaded a free malware scanner, and it found about 200 things iolo missed; then after using a FREE antivirus scanner, I found ANOTHER 200 items iolo missed! The sys mech is nearly as useless as it tells me so many things are wrong with my pc, but WILL OFFER NO HELP TO FIX!! I did better when I was just using FREE DOWNLOADS!
