Ying Yang Concept Camera

Ying Yang Concept Camera

A rather novel looking concept camera phone has cropped in on the shape of the yin and yang symbol. The camera will be able to be separated into 2 parts, the yin and the yang, which can be the camera and storage device respectively. By unplugging the storage module from the camera, it should be a really easy procedure to just plug it into a computer and start copying the pictures that were taken. Of course, currently this camera is still at a concept stage, so don’t expect to see it at your local camera store...

"I hate instant messengers these days. The reason I hate them is because people don’t have any courtesy when they use them. They think that because it’s just a form of online social networking that they don’t have to use the common courtesy that they use with people with whom they are speaking face to face. Here’s some of the stuff that’s been nagging me lately about IMs:

Scenario 1: You see a friend online on your IM. You send them a HI. They respond and you start talking. Then your friend just stops answering you. After 10 or 15 minutes go by, you wonder if they are on the phone or working or something. However, an hour or more goes by and you notice that the person still shows as online, yet you never once got an explanation from them for why they stopped talking to you..."

Could the web browser help you follow and participate in online discussions? Snowl is an experiment to answer that question. It's a prototype Firefox extension that integrates messaging into the browser.

The initial prototype supports two sources of messages: RSS/Atom feeds and Twitter.

And it exposes two interfaces for reading them: a traditional three-pane "list" view, targeted to active reading of important messages; and a "river of news" view, based on the concept popularized by Dave Winer, designed for casual browsing.

Our reader, Anirudh Mehta, discovered a bug in Google Talk’s invisible status feature available in its Gmail Chat version. If use smartly, you can figure out if the girl next door is really invisible or avoiding you.

Here are steps:

  1. Set the chat as off the record with target user (how?). This can be done only when the other user is online. (need help?)
  2. Now try sending chat to that user when he is invisible or offline.
  3. If he is invisible, then he will receive chat.
  4. But if he Is offline, then you will receive error username did not receive your chat”.
