Yoono is a social networking tool that lets you access data and update your status on networks including Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, Twitter, and FriendFeed. It also Yoono also supports MSN, Yahoo!, Gtalk, AIM chat networks. The utility started out its life as a Firefox toolbar, but Yoono recently launched a desktop client that provides all the same features and then some.

The new Yoono desktop client for Windows or Mac allows you to track your contacts, update your status on social networks, or chat on Google Talk, Windows Live, Yahoo or AOL instant messengers.

TweetBe.at is an instant messenger and chat client for Twitter users. Hashtags are used to tag you to a Twitter channel.

TweetBe.at uses Twitter API for authentication. Once authenticated, you can join any channel you wish and start tweeting. You can even create your own channels and ask all your twitter friends to join the discussion.

You can save searches, track the various channels created, add Twitter friends you wish to follow on a particular channel. You can hide tweets containing words or phrases you aren't interested in.

Google team recently added video chat feature to iGoogle (a customizable homepage).

The first time you use video chat in iGoogle, you'll need to download a small plugin. To video chat with a friend, click on the "Start video chat" link in the "Actions" menu at the bottom of a chat window. You can see which of your friends are set up for video by the small green camera icon next to their name in their chat list. Once you start chatting, you can pop out the window and make the size bigger or go full-screen.

You can video chat with friends who don't have gmail accounts, all you need is a Google account.

Prior to Windows Live Messenger 2009, when you clicked the Mail button in Messenger, Internet Explorer (IE) would automatically pop up and log you into Hotmail regardless of your default browser. Beginning with WLM 2009, clicking the Mail button will open Hotmail in your default browser and if that is not IE, it will not provide the automatic log-on into Hotmail.

So, I created Hotmail in IE, which will set allow you to continue to use your default browser in Windows and other applications, but use IE for Messenger’s Hotmail features...

MySpace for Mac is an instant messaging client that allows you to chat in MySpace on your Mac. Actually MySpace has its own official client, however, is only compatible with Windows.

With MySpace for Mac you can add new contacts or remove them from the contact list, add or remove groups, rename contacts and groups or move a contact from group to another. It also lets you view detailed information about a contact in your list: gender, location, age and user picture.
